Hotel Aniene

The staff was friendly, but it doesn’t make up for everything else. They make you turn in your key when you walk out of your room because, and this is a direct quote, “we need to know about people coming and going”. Sort of like a helicopter parent. You only get one key, which caused complications for me and my travel buddy who were on different sleep schedules. The showers have black mold, and there’s no place to put soap or shampoo in the shower other than the floor. They don’t provide conditioner and the shampoo has sulfates (I’m no hairdresser but even I know that’s bad for you). Need a place to do laundry? Well, they don’t have one. They suggest you walk down the street and hope the laundry place is open. (It wasn’t.) They didn’t communicate up front their expectations about paying for the room, which led to us getting accosted about payment at 11 pm when we were stumbling in exhausted. Pluses: The rooms were quiet enough, and my travel buddy said the cappuccinos provided at breakfast were good. And generally friendly staff. I look forward to never returning!

This could be a good hotel with some care..unfortunately no one doesn't seem to care about the quality. It just has an unfriendly and untidy wibe. The walls and curtains in the room were extremely dirty, the bathroom was only cleaned superficially. I suppose the cleaning staff smokes in the room because every time we went in the room after tidying up it smelled like smoke. The ladies at breakfast were very unfriendly as well, making faces when we asked for a knife (there was no clean cutlery) or when I asked for milk with my coffee. The breakfast is not replenished so if you go to eat after 9 am you will only find empty plates and prepackaged snacks. The coffee was good but overall the breakfast is poor. Not a good value for money.

Good place if you do not want to stay in downtown but close to metro station. About 10 minutes by slowly walk. Very good price/quality rate. The room was clean and the beds are comfortable. Ample and varied breakfast. Fine coffee. There was not a small shelf in the bathroom and one or two hangers where the clothes could be hung. It would be help. And a shelf or little closet for the clothes in the room. Overall, it was a very good choice.

A bit outside City Centre but close to metro station. Very friendly staff and good rooms. Icy AC was really good with above 40 degrees centigrade outside and could be switched off overnight but not regulated. The room was not small and very modern, they exchanged everything everyday, even soap that was used just once. For breakfast the serve a lot of sweet stuff, most of it good, but one was spoiled. Coffee is not just for Italian measures very poor, I thought it was tea from looking at it. But when you ask for espresso or cappuccino you get a nice one from the bar. Overall we had a pleasant visit and would come again. For this price in Rome it was really amazing!

Our room was dirty and needed maintenance. There was smell of smoke in the room. Daily cleaning was weak, shower gel was not refilled. Instead of double bed we had two joint, uncomfortable single beds. Minibar was empty. At breakfast they ran out of butter and cheese and clean knives (!), they were unable to present more when we asked for them.
